MAKHACHKALA, April 29 (RIA Novosti) - A pipeline rupture has left some 80,000 residents without gas in the North Caucasus republic of Daghestan, the regional emergencies center said Sunday.
The gas pipeline was ruptured late at night Saturday seven kilometers (4.3 miles) away from the city of Khasavyurt, the emergencies center said.
The pipeline has been damaged as a result of subversive activity, experts dispatched to the site of the incident said.
"A blast or a subversive action is the reason for the pipeline rupture," the experts said.
Work is under way to restore gas supply via the pipeline, the regional emergencies center said.
