GROZNY, May 17 (RIA Novosti) - Police killed two militants and seized two Kalashnikov assault rifles in a special operation in southeast Chechnya's Vedeno District, a local law enforcement source said Thursday.
Chechen police surrounded four militants in a wood at night, during a special operation that began late Wednesday evening. The militants put up resistance, and during the shootout two were killed and two escaped, the source said.
"The republic's interior ministry forces suffered no losses; at the site of the shootout, two Kalashnikov assault rifles were found," he said.
The search for the remaining militants continues, and the deceased have not yet been identified, the source said.
