KHANTY-MANSIISK, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - A five-year presidential management training program has begun in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area (Yugra), said Gadzhi Amirov, deputy head of the Yugra government and curator of the program.

Yugra (Western Siberia) is the main oil and gas region in Russia and one of the largest oil producing areas in the world.

"The program's aim is to train managers who would be able to work in a competitive environment anywhere in the world and in any sector of the national economy. Without them, we will be unable to take production to the modern level. Everything begins with and depends on personnel, their professionalism, knowledge of foreign languages, and personal relations skills," Amirov told journalists Thursday.

He said the terms for selecting program applicants had been revised to stipulate equal financing from the federal and regional budgets and from the company that sends its specialists to managerial training.

According to Amirov, the list of Russian universities and the best business schools [around the world] where specialists from the area will be trained has been extended.

"Our specialists will be trained in Japan, the Netherlands, France and Germany," Amirov said.
