MOSCOW, May 22 (RIA Novosti) - President Vladimir Putin Tuesday nominated the governors of the Omsk Region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory for new terms, the Kremlin press service said.

Putin submitted the candidacies of Alexander Khloponin and Leonid Polezhayev to legislators in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in Central Siberia, and the Omsk Region, in West Siberia, respectively.

At the first meeting of the Legislative Assembly in the Krasnoyarsk Territory May 14, 43 out of 52 deputies voted to appoint Khloponin for another term as governor and to send a request to that effect to the president.

Khloponin, 42, has held his gubernatorial position since 2002, and his term expires next fall. Legislators will consider his nomination May 25.

Polezhayev, 67, was appointed governor of the Omsk Region in September 1999 and re-elected in September 2003. His current term expires in September 2008.
