Court dismisses appeal against banker accused of murder
13:11 28/05/2007
MOSCOW, May 28 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow city court said Monday accusations against banker Alexei Frenkel suspected of the murder of a Central Bank money laundering regulator, Andrei Kozlov, were lawful.
The court dismissed an appeal by Frenkel's lawyers who insist the charges be dropped for being too vague and unclear.
Prosecutors arrested Frenkel in January as the chief suspect in the murder of Kozlov, who was gunned down in September 2006, in an apparent contract killing. Kozlov closed down Frenkel's VIP-bank three months prior to the murder.
Seven suspects in the case are currently being held in custody, including the person suspected of ordering the killing. Prosecutors are continuing to investigate the case as another suspect, Igor Kosmynin, is still on the wanted list.
