BISHKEK, June 1 (RIA Novosti) - An explosion in a scientific research institute in the Kyrgyz city of Osh earlier in the week, that caused damage but no injuries, was a terrorist attack, local investigators said Friday.
A VMU-3 detonator and details of a timing mechanism were found in the debris, suggesting the explosion had been pre-planned.
The blast in Kyrgyzstan's second-largest city rocked the five-story institute, where about 100 companies rent premises. The explosion completely destroyed the editorial office of the Uzbek-language Ush Sadosi newspaper, but no one was hurt, as staff were out on a lunch break.
A criminal case has been opened.
