KEMEROVO, June 13 (RIA Novosti) - Alexei Shapoval, a 73-year-old resident of Novokuznetsk in West Siberia, has become a grandfather for the 101st time, one of the man's sons said Wednesday.

"A girl was born into the family of his son, Iosif last weekend," Vasily Shapoval said. "They are thinking of calling her Tatiana."

Including the newborn, Alexei Shapoval has 50 granddaughters and 51 grandsons, a previous granddaughter having been born just two months ago.

Shapoval's first son, also named Alexei, was born nearly fifty years ago, and was followed by twelve more over the years - 10 sons and two daughters. The whole family lives in the village of Bungur, outside Novokuznetsk, on a single street, which the villagers have renamed Shapoval Street.

Shapoval does not have any great grandchildren yet, but said he is hopeful one will soon appear.
