TEL AVIV/GAZA, June 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Embassy in Israel said Monday it was getting ready to evacuate Russian nationals from the Gaza Strip following the reopening of a checkpoint on the Israeli border.

There are 141 Russians on the evacuation list, most of whom are women married to Palestinians and their children. The list also includes 19 nationals from Moldova, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

"Everything depends on when the border checkpoint is opened...When the Israelis reopen the checkpoint, we will make concrete steps [for evacuation]," said Anastasia Fyodorova, a spokesperson for the Russian Embassy.

Tel Aviv closed the Erez checkpoint at the northern end of the Gaza Strip, the main crossing point into Israel, following armed clashes between the two leading Palestinian factions, radical Islamic movement Hamas and pro-presidential Fatah, that left at least 100 people dead in Gaza and ended up with Hamas seizing control over Gaza.

The Russian diplomats are planning to evacuate women and children via Israel to the Jordanian capital Amman, where they should board an emergencies ministry's transport plane on route to Moscow.

Russia conducted a similar evacuation operation in July last year after a wave of violence swept through the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the current situation in Gaza remains volatile after a week-long fighting between the two rival Palestinian factions.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has dissolved the government led by Hamas's Ismail Haniya, and instructed pro-Western Fatah member Salam Fayyad, formerly a finance minister, to form a new emergency Cabinet.

The Cabinet was sworn in Sunday, and Abbas declared all armed structures linked to Hamas illegal, accusing Hamas of starting the armed rebellion June 10.

A quartet of mediators in the Middle East conflict, which comprises Russia, the European Union, the United States and the United Nations, agreed Sunday that the Palestinian leader's decision to dissolve a coalition government and form an emergency Cabinet was legitimate.
