KEMEROVO, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - A robber sporting a moustache and beard fashioned from an old rabbit hat has been arrested in West Siberia after robbing a village store, a police spokesman said Friday.
The 30-year-old unemployed robber, who has already served three sentences for theft and robbery, threatened a shop saleswoman with a lighter shaped like a pistol. He then took the woman's cell phone and 8,000 rubles ($314) from the cash register before ridding himself of the disguise and fleeing.
The raid put the local police and neighborhood on alert, with volunteers patrolling adjacent areas in cars and on motorbikes. As a result, the hapless offender was caught a few hours later.
A criminal case has been launched, and the man is now facing three to eight years in prison and a fine.
