IRKUTSK, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - Rescuers have been unable to evacuate a sick Belarusian tourist from a forest near East Siberia's Lake Baikal because of his considerable weight, a source in the local rescue service said Monday.
A team of eight rescuers and one doctor was sent Sunday to a mountain river south of the lake to evacuate the tourist, who suddenly fell ill. However, they were unable to carry the 130-kilogram (280-pound) man out of the dense forest.
Rescuers are now considering sending a helicopter to transport the man, who appears to be suffering from appendicitis, to a hospital.
