MOSCOW, September 11 (RIA Novosti) - Power Machines, Russia's leading heavy machinery manufacturer, said Tuesday it won a tender to supply equipment worth $200 million for a hydroelectric power plant to be built in Mexico.
Power Machines will act as a subcontractor for a consortium of Mexican construction companies, ICA and Paninsular. The total project cost is estimated at $768 million.
The company, owned by financial holding Interros, electricity giant Unified Energy System and Germany's Siemens, will deliver two 375 MW hydro-turbines and other hydro-mechanical and electrical equipment. It will manufacture, deliver and install the equipment in 2008-2012.
The construction of the La Yesca plant on the Rio Grande de Santiago river in Jalisco and Nayarit states, in west-central Mexico, will begin in late September and run through June 2012.
La Yesca will be part of a cascade of hydro-power plants on the river, along with the existing 975 MW Aguamilpa and 750 MW El Cajon plants, whose generating equipment was also supplied by the Russian manufacturer.
