MOSCOW, September 12 (RIA Novosti) -Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, September 18, a Russian Foreign Ministry official said Wednesday.
Moscow will put forward a draft resolution to the United Nations banning the deployment of weapons in outer space, submitted to the UN five years ago, Alexander Konuzin, the head of the ministry's department of international organizations, said.
The UN General Assembly session will include meetings of the Quartet of Middle East mediators, G8 leading industrialized nations, the EU, NATO, the Council of Europe, the Arab League, and permanent members of the UN Security Council and the Secretary General, Konuzin said.
The diplomat added that the Contact Group for Kosovo, which involves Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and the United States, will also meet in New York.
