MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov appointed Oleg Markov as head of the country's financial regulating body on Wednesday, the government's press service said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin proposed Markov for the post on Tuesday.
Created by a decree in November, 2001, the Federal Financial Monitoring Service was headed for the first six years of its existence by Zubkov, who quit to become Russia's new prime minister earlier this month.
Markov had served as acting head of the regulator since Zubkov's resignation.
