TYUMEN (West Siberia), October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Police in the city of Perm in the Urals Region seized over 1 kilogram of heroin, a local police spokesman said on Monday.
"During a special operation over the weekend, police detained a 27-year-old Uzbek national and seized 1.1 kg (about 25lb) of heroin from his apartment," the source said.
The suspect is currently being questioned about his drug sources, as well as any possible accomplices.
The former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan is considered a major transit country for narcotics heading from Afghanistan and Southwest Asia to Russia and Europe.
