The Nevsky Express hurtled off the rails August 13, on the country's busiest rail line following an explosion that left a crater in the tracks. Carriages were overturned and 60 people were injured in the blast.
"Work [on the train derailment case] is ongoing," Rashid Nurgaliyev said referring to "circumstantial evidence" and "very interesting information." "There are suspects who have already been brought to Moscow."
The blast occurred as the train approached a railway bridge that passed over a road, but the train, traveling at around 190 kilometers per hour (118 mph), had sufficient momentum to make it over the bridge before running into the embankment, avoiding potentially massive fatalities.
In September prosecutors released two other suspects in the case, and a third one is in custody.
