MAKHACHKALA, October 25 (RIA Novosti) - One policeman was killed and another injured on Thursday in a clash with a group of militants in Daghestan, a republic in Russia's troubled North Caucasus, a local police source said.
The clash occurred at 10:30 a.m. local time (6:30 a.m. GMT), in a forest in the Khasavyurt District in northern Daghestan.
Two militants are said to be still holed up in the area, which has been encircled by security forces. Strike teams from neighboring regions are expected to provide support.
