Election commission publishes details of Putin's assets

MOSCOW, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - The Central Election Commission on Friday published details of the income and assets of United Russia candidates, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the commission, Putin, who heads the list of pro-presidential United Russia party, earned 2.01 million rubles ($80,885) in 2006, and owns an apartment in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, a plot of land in the Moscow Region and two cars.

Putin has a 1,500 square meter (16147 sq feet) plot of land, and has a 77.7 square meter (840 sq feet) apartment. He inherited both his cars from his father.

In addition, the Russian president, who will not run for a third term in the March 2008 presidential elections as it is prohibited by the Constitution, has 3.08 million rubles ($123,944) in a Russian savings bank account, and 560,000 rubles ($22,535) in an account with VTB bank. He also owns 230 shares in the St. Petersburg Bank.
