KRASNOYARSK, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - Krasnoyarsk rescuers have cleared an oil slick on the Yenisei river in Siberia, local emergencies service said on Monday.
The slick, 600-800 meters (2,000-2,600 feet) long and 20-40 meters (65-130 feet) wide, was discovered on Sunday near the southern Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk.
A total of 20 rescuers took part in the clean up operation, installing 100 meters (320 feet) of floating barriers to isolate the slick so that it could be removed using sorbent booms.
The source of the pollution is currently being established.
