MOSCOW, December 26 (RIA Novosti) - Russian police have confiscated almost 1,000 kg of heroin this year, a spokesman for the Russian drug control agency said.
This year, according to official statistics, drug control officers seized over 9,000 kgs of marijuana, over 300 kgs of hashish, more than 120 kgs of opium, some 990 kgs of heroin, 3 kgs of cocaine and over 125 kgs of synthetic drugs.
Over 38,000 criminal cases have been launched against more than 23,000 drug offenders this year, including 619 foreigners and people without nationality. More than 300 people on the federal wanted list have also been detained.
