Two sailors overboard in storm in Russia's Far East

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, January 15 (RIA Novosti) - Two sailors have gone missing during a storm off the Kuril Islands, in Russia's Far East, local officials said on Tuesday.

The first crew member to go overboard was Leonid Korzin, who fell off the deck of the Atlant on Monday evening, around 50 kms (around 30 miles) from Urup Island. Another crew member, Victor Kobychev, dived into the water to save him. A search for the sailors was launched immediately, but was unsuccessful.

The search for the missing sailors was resumed on Tuesday. Strong winds and waves of up to four meters (13 feet) are reported in the area.
