VORONEZH, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - Three people were killed and 35 others injured when a bus collided with a car in the Voronezh Region, central Russia, early on Monday morning, an emergency service official said.

The accident occurred at 8.30 a.m. local time (5.30 a.m. GMT). "The bus hit a car, which suddenly swerved into the oncoming lane at a railway bridge and the bus overturned," the spokesman said.

Investigators said the 47-year-old car driver was unable to control his vehicle, after veering into oncoming traffic, and crashed into the bus. The bus then smashed through a road side barrier overturning down the bank.

A man and two women, including a 17-year-old girl, died. A total of 40 passengers were in the bus at the time of the crash.
