The decision was made in Prague, Czech Republic, at an MINDS International meeting. The news network managing director said: "We are very happy to see RIA Novosti as our agency partner in Russia, as it is an innovative and future-oriented company."
Wolfgang Nedomansky also said: "Having a partner in Russia not only strengthens our position in Europe but also facilitates our further expansion to the East."
RIA Novosti's editor-in-chief said: "For RIA Novosti membership in MINDS International will provide access to up-to-date developments in global information agencies, which will allow the agency to reduce timeframes for introducing new multimedia services for media and mobile operators."
Svetlana Mironyuk added the agency's experience would be positive and useful for other network members.
MINDS International was launched as an EU-funded project in 2004 and provides its partners with access to international markets. It is also a unified sales platform for mobile, online and other digital services produced by member-agencies.
The organization comprises 15 news agencies, including Agence France Presse, Associated Press, and Austria Presse Agentur.
