MOSCOW, March 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's leading uranium miner, Atomredmetzoloto, a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation, Atomenergoprom, said on Wednesday its uranium output was 3,413 metric tons in 2007, a 7% rise year-on-year.
The company also said that if uranium produced in neighboring Kazakhstan was added to this figure, then the company's total output was 3,527 tons.
"This pushed Russia from fifth to fourth place and Atomredmetzoloto to fifth among global uranium producers," the company said in a news release.
The company plans to produce 3,880 tons in 2008. Atomredmetzoloto also plans to triple its aggregate output in Russia and Kazakhstan by 2015.
