Russian agriculture watchdog seizes illegal meat cargo

MOSCOW, March 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said on Monday it had seized a total of 411 metric tons of illegally imported meat from Canada and Argentina.
"The veterinary inspection revealed that the meat had been supplied by producers which failed to obtain guarantees from national veterinary authorities that the products' fully complied with Russian veterinary and sanitary regulations and norms," the watchdog said in a press release.
The seizure lists 15 batches of Canadian meat weighting a total of 341 tons and three batches of meat from Argentina amounting to 70 tons.
