MOSCOW, April 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian state news agency RIA Novosti has become the first Russian media outlet authorized to sell its newswire services directly to Chinese subscribers, the agency's editor-in-chief said on Friday.
Clients in China will have access to RIA Novosti's economic news in Chinese.
"This is the first Russian information product authorized for sales in China," Svetlana Mironyuk said.
She said that RIA Novosti is the only Russian media outlet promoting its information products on the Chinese market in accordance with local laws.
In 2007 RIA Novosti received special authorization to distribute information on China's territory. In line with local laws, RIA Novosti signed on April 10 2008 its first agreement with an authorized agent, the China Economic Information Service, and can now work directly with clients in China.
