KRASNOYARSK, April 18 (RIA Novosti) - A court in Abakan, south Siberia, has sentenced two police officers to prison terms for beating a suspect, local prosecutors said on Friday.
They were found guilty of abusing their authority and assaulting a suspect. The officers were sentenced to four and 3.5 years behind bars.
A police investigation revealed that the two officers went to the home of a local man on allegations of drug and firearm possession. The man, who denied the accusations, was beaten with a rubber truncheon by the officers and then taken to a police station where he was further assaulted.
After being released from police custody, the man made a complaint to the authorities about the incident.
