Former defense facilities to go under hammer in Moscow
20:07 22/04/2008
MOSCOW, April 22 (RIA Novosti) - The auction of facilities belonging to the Russian Defense Ministry earlier postponed over insufficient number of bidders is scheduled for May 27, a spokesman for the Russian military said on Tuesday.
"The date of the auction is May 27, at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time [07:00 GMT]," he said.
The real estate up for auction is 151, Rublyovskoye Shosse, Moscow. The lot also includes buildings, facilities and three plots of land.
The ministry first announced plans to auction off over 20 military facilities across Russia in 2008 in early April. The first auction for two military facilities in Moscow was to be held on April 8.
Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said the funds raised from the auctions would be spent exclusively on the acquisition of housing and the construction of social facilities for military personnel.
