VELIKY NOVGOROD, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - A 89-year-old Russian woman in Veliky Novgorod in northwest Russia is suspected of killing her 79-year-old sister during a quarrel, police said on Wednesday.
The body of the pensioner was discovered by police officers who arrived at the scene following a tip off. The suspect, the dead woman's elderly sister, was admitted to hospital with head injures and later transferred to a mental health clinic.
Preliminary reports said the death occurred during an argument between the sisters, although the reason for the row has not been revealed.
The investigation is continuing.
Earlier on Wednesday, a 61-year-old Russian in the Kemerovo Region in southwest Siberia killed his two-year-old granddaughter after a heavy drinking session left him suffering from hallucinations, prosecutors said.
