Medvedev appoints envoys to Russia's seven federal districts

MOSCOW, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev appointed on Wednesday presidential envoys to the country's seven federal districts.

The following presidential envoys were reappointed to their posts - Ilya Klebanov to the North-West Federal District, Georgy Poltavchenko to the Central Federal District, Pyotr Latyshev to the Urals Federal District, Anatoly Kvashnin to the Siberian Federal District, and Oleg Safonov to the Far East Federal District.

New appointees were Vladimir Ustinov, a former justice minister, who succeeded Grigory Rapota as a presidential envoy to the Southern Federal District.

Rapota, 63, a former secretary general of the Eurasian Economic Community organization, has been appointed as an envoy to the Volga Federal District.

Former presidential envoy to the Volga Federal District Alexander Konovalov has replaced Ustinov as justice minister.

Poltavchenko, 55, the envoy to the Central Federal District, and Latyshev, 60, the envoy to the Urals Federal District, have served in their posts for eight years.

Klebanov, 57, the envoy to the North-West Federal District, and the envoy to the Siberian Federal District, Kvashnin, 62, have both been reappointed for a second term.

Safonov, 48, a former interior minister, was appointed as presidential envoy to the country's Far East Federal District in October last year.
