KEMEROVO, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll in the recent mine accident in Western Siberia has risen to four after the body of another miner was discovered on Monday, a mine spokesman said.
A total of 17 miners were working in the Lenin mine in Mezhdurechensk, in the south of the Kemerovo Region, when a cave-in occurred on May 30.
Eleven of the miners managed to make their way to the surface, while six others remained trapped underground. One miner was rescued on Sunday and taken to hospital, while another three miners were found dead.
The search continues for the final miner. Hopes that he will be found alive are fading fast.
