MOSCOW, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - A informal summit of post-Soviet CIS countries and a three-day international economic forum will begin in St. Petersburg on Friday.

During the Commonwealth of Independent States summit in Russia's second city, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will discuss ongoing bilateral disputes with his Ukrainian and Georgian counterparts.

The agenda for the talks with the CIS leaders will include cooperation in energy and transport.

At a one-on-one meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Medvedev will resume discussions on Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia, a source of several long-running disputes between the countries.

Negotiations with Ukraine's Viktor Yushchenko are likely to focus on Russia's Black Sea Fleet on the Crimean peninsula. Moscow recently announced plans to increase the number of warships at the base in Sevastopol to 100, sparking an angry response from Ukraine.

The CIS comprises Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Medvedev will also attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he is set to deliver a speech on Saturday.

The forum, running from June 6-8, will bring together business leaders and politicians to discuss key economic issues facing Russia and the international community.

Russian news agency RIA Novosti is the general information sponsor of the forum.
