NOVOSIBIRSK, July 3 (RIA Novosti) - A passenger train killed a woman and injured a man who were kissing on railway tracks in the western Siberian city of Novosibirsk, local transport police said Thursday.
The train driver signaled for the couple to leave the track, but the 27-year-old woman and her 30-year-old partner could not hear it as a freight train was passing on another track.
"They embraced and paid no attention to what was going on around them," the transport police said in a statement about the accident, which happened on Wednesday. "A witness to the incident shouted a warning and the railway crossing attendant blew a whistle."
The woman finally saw the train approaching and pushed the man away from the tracks, but she had no time to escape. She died instantly, while the man received a leg injury.
