"The pills were discovered in two DHL parcels sent from Hong Kong to Russia via South Korea," Stanislav Shchedrin said.
Russian authorities and South Korea's customs service conducted a joint operation, which resulted in the arrest of three Russian citizens suspected of illegal drug-trafficking.
The suspects are facing three to seven years in prison and a fine of 1 million rubles ($44,000) if convicted.
Ecstasy is a street name for a semi-synthetic member of the amphetamine class of psychoactive drugs. It is one of the most widely used illicit drugs associated with clubbers and the "rave" culture.
Possession of ecstasy is illegal across the world and under a UN agreement its possession, manufacture, or sale may result in criminal prosecution.
