NAZRAN, July 30 (RIA Novosti) - At least one person was killed and several injured when a car bomb went off near police headquarters in Ingushetia on Wednesday, an emergencies ministry source in the southern Russian republic said.
The blast occurred at around 9:00 am (5:00 GMT) in the republic's largest city, Nazran.
Preliminary reports suggest that local police officers are among the dead and inured. The blast occurred next to a mosque near the city's Interior Ministry building.
"The explosion in the car triggered a chain reaction of blasts in nearby cars," the officer said.
Up to 15 cars were destroyed as a result of a fire caused by the blast. The fire has already been extinguished, and police investigators and paramedics are working at the scene.
