MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - One police officer was killed and another injured in an armed attack in the Urus-Martan district of Russia's North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, a police source said on Monday.
According to the source, the incident occurred Sunday evening, when three unknown men opened fire on officers after being stopped for a document check.
"Unexpectedly, the men started shooting at the police with pistols, and as a result one officer was killed instantly and another wounded," he said.
After the shooting the men escaped.
A search is underway and a criminal case has been launched.
