"A bear came out of the forest and attacked three locals near a house. One woman is in intensive care in a serious condition, two others - a man and woman - were also injured in the attack. A little later the bear attacked a pensioner, the man was taken to hospital," said the spokesman.
He said, a number of precautionary measures have been put in place in the area to try and prevent further incidents. The measures include training locals on how to avoid attacks and additional police patrols near settlements.
The bear was tracked and shot dead by police in one of the village streets.
The incident is the second in the region, earlier this month a man was injured by a bear after he tried to stop the animal stealing food from a campsite.
