MAKHACHKALA, September 3 (RIA Novosti) - Two police officers were injured on Wednesday when gunmen opened fire on their car in the south Russian republic of Daghestan, a police spokesman said.
The attack occurred near the village of Karamakhy, in central Daghestan.
"Both police officers were injured and have been hospitalized. The details of the incident are being clarified," the spokesman said.
Security forces in Daghestan, which borders Chechnya, frequently come under attack from militants and criminal gangs.
A senior police official, Major Arsen Zakaryayev, was fatally shot in an attack by two militants in Daghestan on Tuesday.
