MAKHACHKALA, September 17 (RIA Novosti) - A group of militants has been eliminated during a special operation in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Daghestan, an interior ministry source said on Wednesday.
"As part of a special operation...a group of militants comprising up to ten people was eliminated," the source said.
Sporadic terrorist attacks and militant clashes remain rather common in Russia's republics of Ingushetia and Daghestan, as violence spills over from neighboring Chechnya, although the Kremlin has ended its campaign to fight separatists and terrorists there.
On Tuesday an explosive device, equivalent to 9-12 kg (20-27 lbs) of TNT, was discovered and disabled in a controlled explosion in the Daghestani capital, Makhachkala.
