MOSCOW/AKTYUBINSK, September 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will pay a working visit to Kazakhstan on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and attend a business forum, the Kremlin said.

Medvedev will meet with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev and the heads of 12 Russian and seven Kazakh border regions at the 5th Forum of the Russian-Kazakh border regions.

"The sides are expected to sign eight documents on border control regulations, transportation infrastructure, banking and interregional cooperation," the Kremlin press service said.

Russia is the Central Asian country's major trade partner with trade volume totaling $16.6 billion in 2007 and rising 27% year-on-year to $9.6 in the first half of 2008.

Both countries are members of several regional alliances, including the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasec, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The current visit is Medvedev's second trip to the oil-rich ex-Soviet state since he was sworn in as president on May 7.
