MOSCOW, September 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin approved on Tuesday a program worth 2.084 trillion rubles ($83 billion) to finance the state nuclear corporation Rosatom between 2009 and 2015.

According to the government resolution adopted on September 20, Rosatom will use 1.264 trillion rubles ($50.5 billion) from its own funds and 820 billion rubles ($32.8 billion) from state coffers to finance the development program.

The program for Rosatom will replace the current federal target program of developing the country's nuclear energy industrial complex in 2007-2010 and long-term until 2015, which will be terminated from January 1, 2009, the resolution said.

Rosatom plans to put into operation spent nuclear fuel storage facilities with a capacity of 44,000 metric tons and radioactive waste storage facilities with a capacity of 19,600 cubic meters in 2012-2015, according to the program for Rosatom's activities in 2009-2015.

Also, Rosatom aims to prepare 181 nuclear and radiation-hazard facilities for decommissioning and eliminate 36 such decommissioned facilities and rehabilitate 1,482 square meters of radiation- contaminated territories in 2012-2015, the civilian nuclear corporation's program states.
