MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - An OMON special unit police officer has been killed during an operation to detain members of illegal armed groups in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, a police source said on Monday.
The OMON officer was killed as police came under fire in the Goity village in the republic's Urus-Martan District late on Sunday.
A search for the attackers has been launched.
