MOSCOW, October 10 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is concerned about melamine-tainted food imports from China, as it has not received complete information from the Chinese authorities, Russia's chief sanitary official said Friday.

According to official statistics, over 50,000 people, mostly children, have been affected by toxic milk products in China, with four deaths reported.

"We are concerned about the deficit of information from China," Gennady Onishchenko said.

Russia has banned imports of all Chinese products containing milk or milk derivatives. The Russian consumer rights regulator, Rospotrebnadzor, was charged with introducing methods of detecting melamine in food products.

Chinese milk products, including some containing melamine, have recently been found and withdrawn from sale in Siberia and Russia's Far East.
