Alexander Brod said his and other Russian human rights organizations were providing legal advice to South Ossetians who were affected by the five-day conflict between Georgia and Russia in August.
"We have consulted people and helped them to prepare applications to the European court," he said, adding that one of public union leaders had lodged "over 200 applications to the European Court of Human Rights in the past few days."
The International Court of Justice obliged Russia and Georgia on Wednesday to adopt temporary measures to protect the rights of the Georgian, South Ossetian and Abkhaz populations.
Russia launched its five-day military operation to "force Georgia to accept peace" after Georgian troops attacked breakaway South Ossetia on August 8 in a bid to bring the territory back under its control, killing a number of Russian peacekeepers and hundreds of civilians.
Russia's response to the Georgian attack was labeled disproportionate by a number of Western powers. On August 26, Russia recognized South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states.
