During the visit, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church will "personally consecrate" the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Vienna, which has been under reconstruction since 2003, Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev of Vienna and Austria said.
The restoration of the cathedral is set to be completed by early December.
"The visit of Patriarch Alexy II to Austria will have great importance both for Orthodox believers and for all Austrian Christians," the bishop said.
Alexy II is also expected to meet with Austrian President Heinz Fischer during his visit.
The Vienna Concert Hall will host a Christmas performance, featuring the Russian conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev. The Russian Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra will perform at the event.
