YEKATERINBURG, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Four people have died and one person has been injured after a helicopter crashed near the capital of Russia's Volga Republic of Tatarstan, the regional emergencies center said on Sunday.
"At 2:10 p.m. Moscow time [11:10 GMT] we received information that a Mi-8 helicopter fell about 15 km [9 miles] away from the city of Kazan. There were five crewmembers on its board," the emergencies center earlier said.
The helicopter belonged to the Kazan helicopter factory and was performing a test flight.
An eyewitness told the republican news agency Tatar-inform that one of the pilots had jumped out of the cabin before the helicopter's fall at an altitude of about 70 meters. He has been taken to hospital in a state of shock.
