MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) - A secretary at the embassy of Turkmenistan in Moscow is in hospital after being attacked in the city center by unknown assailants, police and the embassy said on Wednesday.
After the attack on Tuesday afternoon, the assailants fled the crime scene. The victim has been hospitalized and his condition is not critical, the embassy said. A criminal case has been opened.
The attack occurred a few dozen meters from Arbat metro station, where a large illegal rally of far-right groups was taking place to mark Unity Day. Around 200 activists were detained, and later released.
The Turkmen embassy has sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry expressing concern over the incident, and urging authorities to thoroughly investigate the attack.
