MOSCOW, November 13 (RIA Novosti) - Holy relics that were earlier stolen from the Donskoy Monastery in Moscow have been returned anonymously, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

On Wednesday, thieves stole a gold-plated reliquary containing the relics of four saints, including those of Alexander Nevsky, a key figure in Russian history and one of the country's most revered saints.

Footage from a surveillance camera showed an unidentified man, approximately 30 years old, placing the reliquary at the doors of the monastery early on Thursday.

"Early on Thursday an unidentified man, approximately 30 years old and dressed in a black jacket, brought the reliquary to the monastery," the spokesman said.

He added that the man who appeared on the footage was difficult to identify as his face was partially covered by a hood.
