MOSCOW, November 25 (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin's next live televised session with the Russian public, his first as premier and leader of the ruling pro-presidential United Russia party, will be held on December 4, the Ekho Moskvy radio said on Tuesday quoting party sources.

Russians in 10 cities will be able to ask the prime minister questions.

However this time, only the Rossiya TV channel will be allowed to broadcast the session, Kommersant, a respected Russian business daily, said last week.

Gazeta.ru said that cameras will be set up in South Ossetia during the Q&A session. Irina Gagloyeva, who heads the information and press committee in the breakaway Georgian republic, confirmed that a live TV link was scheduled for December 4, but gave no further details.

However, the same online edition said referring to Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesman, that the date of the event may be changed.

Putin, who agreed to head the United Russia party in May after stepping down as president, held six live televised question and answer sessions with the nation as head of state.

The current president, Dmitry Medvedev, has not yet held any live TV sessions with the nation, but he runs a video blog on the official Kremlin website, the newspaper said.

Medvedev is expected to be on an official visit to India on December 4.

Some observers suspect Putin of embarking on a presidential election campaign. The premier put forward a large-scale economic program at the 10th United Russia congress last week. He also spoke in favor of a tough stand on foreign economic issues at an international conference in St. Petersburg on Monday.

Russia's lower house of parliament approved on Friday in the third and final reading the president's proposed amendments to increase the presidential and parliamentary terms to six and five years, respectively.
