Russia's Far East vital for national security - Security Council
Nikolai Patrushev is currently on a tour around the country's federal districts to promote a draft national security strategy until 2020.
The new strategy, mapped out by the Russian leadership, emphasizes improvements to the political system, the optimization of state governance, and the enhancement of the state's defense and security capabilities as priorities for Russia's long-term development.
"All these aspects are, essentially, aimed at improving the living standards of Russians," Patrushev said at the opening of a meeting on national security in the Far Eastern city of Blagoveshchensk.
According to Patrushev, the proposed draft is pragmatic and practical, and lists specific measures to ensure national security.
The meeting will discuss social, economic, and military issues in the Far Eastern federal district directly related to national security.
Patrushev earlier held similar meetings in the North-Western, Southern, Urals and Siberian federal districts.
