STOCKHOLM, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - Norway's Coast Guard have detained three Russian trawlers on suspicion of illegal poaching in a prohibited area, a Norwegian newspaper said on Wednesday.

The Mirgorod, Arkhangelsk and Achinsk vessels were stopped to the south of the Medvezhy Island in the Barents Sea on Tuesday, the Fiskeribladet Fiskaren daily said. The ships are currently being escorted to the Norwegian port of Tromso and will arrive there on Thursday for further investigation.

This is the fourth time Russian trawlers have been stopped this month by Norway over poaching suspicions.

Russian fishing agency officials earlier said 95% of cases of ships being detained have been successfully contested by Russian companies through the Norwegian courts. But a day in a Norwegian port costs Russian fishing companies $10,000-$12,000.

The issue of Russian ships being stopped by the Norwegian Coast Guard is to be discussed during Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere's visit to Moscow on March 25.
